Different cultures have different customs surrounding food and eating. Describe a food-related custom you grew up with or have experienced. How does this custom reflect your family's values or cultural background?

Response: Growing up I was taught to not start eating until everyone was at the table. I really struggled to follow this rule because I was always so hungry. Even after I was already seated my mom would still be up getting the last bits of food to the table and whenever I started eating she would just shake her head and tell me to stop until she was ready. I think we did this out of respect for everyone at the table, especially the cook who was usually the last person there.
